The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) was created in 1932. The SAL was started as an organization within the American Legion so men who had parents or grandparents that served in the military could still join the American Legion. Combined the Sons, the Auxilary and the members of the American Legion alone add up to be greater than 4.2 MILLION!
